U Visa & T Visa Immigration Relief for Crime and Trafficking Victims
You are not alone. You deserve safety, stability, and a path forward.
If you or a loved one has survived serious crime or human trafficking, the U.S. immigration system offers powerful protections—even if you are undocumented. At Solovyova Law Firm in New York City, we help survivors of violence, exploitation, and abuse apply for humanitarian immigration relief through the U Visa and T Visa.
These visas can protect you from deportation, allow you to work legally in the U.S., and provide a pathway to permanent residence (green card). We work with clients across New York City and nationwide, offering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive legal support.
What Are U and T Visas?
Both the U Visa and the T Visa are designed to help noncitizens who have suffered harm and are willing to assist law enforcement or prosecutors. These forms of relief not only promote justice, but they also offer eligible individuals and families a chance to rebuild their lives in the U.S. with dignity and protection.
T Visa – For Survivors of Human Trafficking
The T Visa offers protection for individuals who have been trafficked into or within the United States, including those brought to New York for labor or sex work under force, fraud, or coercion.
You may qualify for a T Visa if you:
- Were tricked, forced, or coerced into labor or commercial sex work
- Are currently in the U.S. because of the trafficking
- Have cooperated (or are willing to cooperate) with law enforcement, or cannot due to trauma
- Would suffer extreme hardship if removed from the U.S.
At Solovyova Law Firm, we guide trafficking survivors through each step of the application process. We handle communications with law enforcement, build strong supporting evidence, and work to protect both you and your family members under the law.
T Visa Benefits Include:
- Protection from deportation
- Work authorization (employment card)
- The ability to apply for family members
- A path to a green card after 3 years
U Visa – For Victims of Serious Crimes
The U Visa is available to victims of certain serious crimes, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, robbery, blackmail, or felonious assault, who have suffered physical or emotional harm and are willing to assist law enforcement or government agencies in the investigation or prosecution of the crime.
You may qualify for a U Visa if you:
- Were the victim of a qualifying crime in the U.S.
- Suffered substantial physical or psychological harm
- Cooperated with the police, prosecutors, or child protective services
- Are currently living in the U.S. (regardless of legal status)
Even if the crime occurred years ago or didn’t lead to an arrest or conviction, you may still be eligible.
U Visa Benefits Include:
- Protection from deportation
- Legal work authorization
- The ability to apply for certain family members
- A path to a green card after three years
We understand how difficult it is to speak up after trauma. Our firm handles these cases with the utmost sensitivity, working to empower survivors and protect their rights.
